The SEIU’s Persuasion of Power appears to be wearing thin even within its own membership. Over the last several months, SEIU members have been asking questions about SEIU policies with respect to use of membership dues for politics, excessive executive compensation, member intimidation, misleading propaganda and election irregularities.
A recent article, NLRB Quickie Election Fact Check, exposes an SEIU training document (in place while Member Becker was that union’s Associate General Counsel) that encourages organizers to “steal, steal, steal.” Evidently SEIU members in California feel this philosophy is being applied to its own membership. Mariam Noujaim a.k.a. “Mariam the Mighty” and Erica Soules are leading a group of disgruntled SEIU members who are demanding the SEIU open its financial records so members can see how dues money is being spent through www.HelpSaveOurState.com (see State Worker Takes on Union to Save California). In fact, Erica took the fight national with an appearance on Fox Business News where she exposed the SEIU’s misuse of membership dues for political purposes (see America’s Nightly Scoreboard).
These two ladies have also challenged recent raises the SEIU’s “big labor bosses” have bestowed upon themselves at a cost of $ 295,000 annually. Apparently they feel overworked by these elected positions for which they voluntarily ran (see SEIU Compensation Initiative, SEUI Open Letter and SEIU Officers Compensation). They also challenged the SEIU’s strike fund, which had reportedly accumulated $10,000,000, when there was no provision for the SEIU to strike in the contract (see Four Letters Served). The initiatives by these brave ladies, as well as the initiative led by member Ken Hamidi to allow members the choice to opt out of paying dues not germane to membership benefits (dubbed ” Fair Share Fees”) have thrown a bright and unwelcome spot light on SEIU financial practices (see SEIU Non Germane).
The SEIU is no stranger to thuggery and doesn’t hesitate to use those tactics against anyone, including its own members (see SEIU Watch – Campaign Manual Promotes Breaking the Law and SEIU Thugs Beat Up State Worker Ken Hamidi in Sacramento). Much like they do during their Corporate Campaigns, the SEIU uses not only physical intimidation, but also psychological warfare through misrepresentation of the facts. Is this SEIU Propaganda – Lies or Just Carelessness? The SEIU also likes to distort the facts in addressing its own members on its labor television network (see Channel 100). These are all standard “playbook” tactics developed and used by the SEIU, as discussed in Corporate Campaigns: Vehicle to Forced Unionism and Political Payback.
In addition to its questionable financial practices, member intimidation and misleading propaganda the union is now being charged with irregularities during union recognition elections exposed by its own members. “Mariam the Mighty” observed ballots with no U.S. postmark (as required by the SEIU) being opened and counted. When she challenged the process, she was forced to leave the room, as stated in the “Unfair Practice Charge” filed with State of California’s Public Employment Relations Board (see SEIU Ballot PERB). The response from the SEIU was typical propaganda. They stated that Mariam acknowledged there was no problem before she left on her own accord (see SEIU Ballot Response). In another long drawn out representation election, between the SEIU and NUHW, SEIU members exposed questionable electioneering by the SEIU in an attempt to discredit NUHW (see SEIU Electioneering in Kaiser Conference Room). This led to an election rematch between the two rival unions as the Administrative Law Judge who presided over the case, brought by the NUHW and disgruntled SEIU members, wrote a 34 page decision citing a long list of irregularities by the SEIU (see Kaiser Election Results Koed NLRB Judge Orders Rematch).
The sad part of this activity is not only that the SEIU big labor bosses are betraying the trust of their own members, but that they are supported by a political system that encourages the corruption. Even more astounding is the fact these stories represent activities in one state! Multiply this by 50 and you will understand why we as a country are failing to address the disease of labor corruption as noted in Addressing the Symptoms, Not the Disease.
BigGovernment.com founder Andrew Breitbart received another taste of SEIU thuggery this past week at “Occupy L.A.,” his second public run in with the SEIU thugs. Mr. Breitbart’s first exposure was memorialized in Unholy Alliance? , The Devil at Breitbart’s Doorstep and SEIU’s Unholy Alliance. In that experience, Mr. Breitbart and Mr. Glenn Beck were confronted by, Reverend C.J. Hawkins, one of the multitude of characters that attacked EMS during the SEIU’s Corporate Campaign to force unionize EMS employees, as chronicled in The Devil at My Doorstep. It is obvious that the SEIU is willing to attack anyone or any entity to achieve its goals, using intimidation as its calling card!
In the latest incident, a union thug followed Mr. Breitbart throughout the “Occupy L.A.”event, in an obvious attempt to intimidate him (see SEIU Thug Follows Andrew Breitbart Around at Occupy L.A. and Andrew Breitbart Hits Occupy L.A. Protest, Brings Eric Bolling the Video Evidence). This act of outright intimidation is similar to what I experienced during the SEIU’s corporate campaign against EMS, when two SEIU thugs fell in shoulder to shoulder with me for two blocks in downtown Indianapolis (see blog Corporate Campaigns: Vehicle to Forced Unionism and Political Payback).
It appears the SEIU is ramping up a corporate campaign against Mr. Breitbart. In this instance the goal is not to force unionize his employees, but rather to silence him much as they have done with their own members, small and large businesses, banks, government officials and the mainstream media. See SEIU Thugs Beat Up State Worker Ken Hamidi in Sacramento, A Story of Our Future (use of a corporate campaign against small business), California Hospital Alleges SEIU Extortion (use of a corporate campaign against large business), A Smear Campaign (use of a corporate campaign against a city council president), SEIU Plan to Destroy JP Morgan (a plan for the use of corporate campaign against banks) and many mainstream media sources, including Fox News as seen in the SEIU’s website post Glenn Beck and Republican Violence (the use of corporate campaigns against Glenn Beck). The goal may be different but the means used to accomplish the goal are the same. Remember, the SEIU believes it can do whatever it wants to anyone to achieve its goals! SEIU believes that the ends justify the means. This ultimately became clear to me when SEIU contract manager Dennis Dingo, in our last meeting before the commencement of our battle with the SEIU stated “We like conversation but embrace confrontation,” a clear declaration of the SEIU’s “Persuasion of Power“.
Apparently, the SEIU does not like it when someone turns the table on them and exposes their role, as did Mr. Breitbart at “Occupy L.A.” This, despite the fact that they shamelessly broadcasts its involvement in the occupy movement on the SEIU’s National Workforce Network (see Occupy Wallstreeters- SEIU’s Stephen Lerner Leaks Plan to Terrorize Corporate Executives). It is refreshing to see someone stand up and challenge the SEIU, as most of the mainstream media, businesses and business owners back down based on perceived public perception and potential loss of business or advertisers. What they must realize, is that the vast majority of the American public already ignores the SEIU’s public displays, recognizing it for what it is truly is, radicalism! Unfortunately, some only see the SEIU as a projection of the “Persuasion of Power” and not the desperate Gasping Dinosaur it actually is! A gasping dinosaur that needs to obtain a steady supply of dues and paying members, through misrepresentation of the facts, in order to maintain financial viability.
It is time for the vast majority, including businesses, politicians and the media, to stand up to the SEIU’s Insidious Tenacles and take back America!
The mainstream media is attempting to portray the “Occupy Wall Street” protestors as the left’s version of the Tea Party. In truth, they have little in common, with the exception of their legitimate objections to “Crony Capitalism” and “Wall Street Bailouts” (see Tea Party attacks could damage GE). I speak from experience when I characterize Tea Party participants as people who want to see change occur, but do so through a peaceful, gracious, and low profile approach, unlike the boisterous, high-profile and obnoxious “Occupy Wall Street” approach, now seen nightly on the networks and cable television. This past week I had the distinct pleasure to speak in front of the Palm Beach County, Florida Tea Party, the Palm Beach County, Florida Republican Club, and the Madison, Indiana Tea Party. Those in attendance were attentive, respectful and thoughtful. They were patriots concerned about the direction and future of this great country and the future of their children and grandchildren. This is markedly different from “Occupy Wall Street” and similar protests held around the country this past week, which are only self-serving, as illustrated by demands to eliminate mortgage and other debt.
“Occupy Wall Street” is not the voice of the people. It is part of a grand scheme concoted by labor unions to serve their agenda (see Former SEIU Official Reveals Secret Plan to Destroy JP Morgan, Crash the Stock Market and Redistribute Wealth in America?). As you view the videos of the protest, you will see numerous SEIU and AFL-CIO participants in the crowd. This is clearly an organization attempt by labor unions, despite SEIU President Mary Kay Henry’s attempt to distance SEIU involvement in “Occupy Wall Street” in a duplicitous article Why Labor Backs ‘Occupy Wall Street’. Interestingly enough, the AFL-CIO was very up front in its involvement as reported in the Indianapolis Star article Occupying Indy.
As I spoke to the Tea Party groups, it was apparent to me that the attitude was not “What is in it for me?”, but rather “What is best to preserve this democracy, and this republic?” The debate and questions were animated, but thoughtful much as I envision were those of our Founding Fathers. They understood the problems on both ends of the spectrum, from “Crony Capitalism” on one end to “big labor” corruption on the other. Their true goal was to work to discover what needed to be done to fix the system and preserve our future. Never did self indulgence, class warfare, religion or race enter the picture. Does anyone believe the “Occupy Wall Street” protestors can say the same?
In the Tea Party groups I met and listened to great Americans such as General Paul Vallely (Stand Up America), Thomas and Deneen Borelli (The National Center for Public Policy and Project 21), Rick Berry, Rick Reuss & Lisa Seng (Sons and Daughters of Liberty), Les Naiman (Louisville talk Show Host), Jim Coyle (Radio Personality), Randy Frye (Indiana State Senator), Anita Carbone (Tea Party Coordinator) , Marie Davis ( Republican Club President), Brian Mudd & Joel Malkin (Radio personalities, WJNO), and many others who spoke with obvious passion about preserving this great nation and American Exceptionalism. These are people who work for a living, ask for no entitlements, defend this great country and look to preserve the God given rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, without government intervention. They realize that Individual choice, not government, fuels prosperity. This is in contrast to a group which had no answer when asked “why are you here?” They are nothing more than union stooges. It is time to understand America, We are at War! Armageddon is at Hand! Please Wake up!
